#FP7 Nominate An Emerging Leader Today!
Ideas & opportunities for future focused civic leaders...
Hi all,
As you know, much of my writing/work is about informing and inspiring the next generation of philanthropic leadership by championing the tech, trends and talent that will ultimately be the key tools they use to effect change in their communities.
That’s why I’m pleased to launch a little project I have been working on…
On my blog I am building out a ‘Rising Stars In Philanthropy’ column which will be an extension of the 14 emerging leaders I profile in my upcoming book and where I intend to continue showcasing the future faces of leadership in the field. Individual’s highlighted in our blog will undoubtedly be the ones pulling the levers of change in a decade and moving forward many of the topics we discuss on this blog.
Those feature will be interesting and noteworthy not only because of their achievements, creativity, and credentials, but because their personal and professional experience help break down the future of philanthropy by sharing unique viewpoints and relatable visions for the future.
I’m really excited to build this one out as we begin building a real movement around philanthropic futurism; what it is, who personifies those values, and how can we fast track those with new ideas, energy, and the requisite skillset - and the courage to enact them - into leadership roles (and into leadership roles now, not five to ten years down the track).
If you know of anyone doing great work or believe someone espouses the values of future focused leadership deserves to be highlighted in this way then please nominate them. If you believe this to speak to you, please, please nominate yourself.
To nominate an individual to be featured please fill in the quick contact form here. Individuals don’t need to be specifically in organized philanthropy either – we hope to cover all facets of the space from planned giving to programming, from fundraising to IT, from nonprofits to activism or those that simply have a passion for giving back.
Once you have filled in the form, we will then be in touch with next steps with the view of creating a dynamic profile piece that captures their/your work, professional goals and how they/you see the need, challenges and opportunities for the future of philanthropy.
I’m really excited to showcase y’all!

What I’m Writing
Fundraising is the process not our job title: The fight for professional identity (5 min read)
The social sector is constantly being defined from the outside & our very lexicon is being challenged by those with the least amount of skin in the game. It's time to reclaim the term philanthropy and provide clarity on how we work with donors to have impact.
What I’m Reading
A crypto billionaire donated $1 billion to India. Make sure you include an asterisk. (4 min read)
A cryptocurrency billionaire seems to have made one of the largest contributions to save lives in India from the coronavirus pandemic: Over $1 billion.
But as there so often is in the world of cryptocurrency, there is a massive catch. And it’s a catch that over the next few years will likely come up again and again and again as crypto billionaires ascend to become major players in the world of philanthropy.
This article only goes to highlight that nonprofits need updated gift acceptance policies. The lower tiers of crypto currency is extremely volatile & needs to be sold as soon as it hits the account or y’all are setting yourselves up for disappointment.
